This Sunday is my 1 year anniversary with Sean. This is what I got him:
I commissioned my friend Jenni to put it together because I can't draw, but the idea itself was mine. It came out beautifully!
Then Sean gave me these:
They are Mister Reusch prints! I love pugs! One day I will have some and life will be A-OK.
What was (or is) your favorite subject in school?
This may seem like a cop out but I really liked my studio art classes and photography.
Unfortunately, and I am not kidding to get the pity vote, I was the most untalented person in both those classes. But I kept on trucking despite the fact that I could not draw or take fancy photos of naked supermodels.
The biggest art project I worked on in high school was this:
This was a big deal. What inspired me to do this was Picasso who once said:
So what I did was not only do an art piece but also dabble in sociology and see what would happen if I rounded a bunch of kids of varying ages together and just gave them paper and crayons. I did this by going to my high school's day care (a day care for the student's kids no less, yay babies having babies). And I also drew with them. I observed them and I observed who was observing me. I didn't tell them what to draw, I just let them do what they wanted. Some just ate the crayons, some just scribbled, some came up with really great drawings unlike anything you would ever see an adult do and some just looked at what I was drawing and tried to recreate that.
From there I asked if I could keep all their amazing drawings and they said yes. I told them they all did super great and thanked them for their time. I then picked a bunch of them, sat down with this plastic material and grabbed some oil sticks. Oil sticks are like grown up crayons! I loved them. Sounds weird but I basically re-drew their stuff. Yes I copied their pictures! But I wanted to learn to draw like they did. And I used my fingers and made a mess and had loads of fun. After they were all done, they were sewn together with fishing line to create a quilt like design. I am pleased. It is 7 years old now and it still makes me smile.
The following year I used the same art work and did something in my own style using words to recreate their pictures:
sorry there is no such thing as an lj-cut on here.
